I live in Michigan and last fall we planted this weeping cherry tree. This spring it bloomed beautifully but when all the blooms went away there was very little leaves. Just some growth from the trunk and a couple at the end of some branches. Any ideas why and is it too late to save?

It is possible that the roots froze during the winter but usually this would kill the whole tree. The growth from the trunk if below the grafted part at the top is coming from suckers and must be removed. If you have any green leaves still left then there might be hope. It could also be some other sort of disease, though I am not sure what. Root freezing is a good possibility though.

I live in Michigan too........................ If I were you, I'd call a local garden center. Ask them if they know of a reputable arborist. Or maybe they have someone on staff who can answer your questions. There are so many things that could have gone wrong with your tree, it's best to get an expert's opinion. Good luck.

If it is the same kinda cheery tree that I've seen, they bloom for a very short period of time.

I don't know why it sounds like it is dieing, though.

i'd say money tree, yet i already have been given a money tree in terms of organization so a donut tree that produces each variety of donuts that are no longer undesirable for you would be heaven in a bow.
