Is there anything you have found that works in shortening the length of a cold in a child (3 yrs)?

Besides Antibiotics, run a hot steam vaporizer 24 hrs a day, (not a humidifier) it helps loosen the phlegm. Maybe lots of oranges or orange juice, garlic is very good to fight of bacteria but you would have to put in something like chicken broth, that's good too just liquids for a few days or really light stuff. Zinc is very good also (in chewable vitamin). All this might keep it from getting worse and keep the immune system up so it might shorten it! I keep a supply of this in the cabinet at all times. My kids (when they were little).stayed pretty healthy.

Plenty of fluids, preferably water, Vit C but not to much OJ, Vicks chest rub on chest and feet(helps to sweat it out) put socks on ....sound weird but works and don't keep the coddled inside get out into the fresh air.

Lots of cuddles,
wearing layers ie t-shirt, jumper, coat so you just take off a layer at a time to cool down
food & drink high in vitamins
vitamin c supplements

Zicam or clod-ease. Zicam will shorten but it may not be good for your child. ask your doc. cold-ease just makes it feel much better.

Honey+lemon, three times daily before meals and of course warm drinks .

(2 table spoon of honey + one table spoon lemon juice).

Kids sadly are no different to adults. They have to work through it like adults. Feel sorry for ya both !

lots of fludis like water or jucie, lots of rest and sometimes some fresh air really helps.

a vaporizer/humidifier will help break up the junk, other than that, just time
