i do for the following reasons.
as a nation of laws the constitution guarantees 'equal protection'. if heterosexuals have the right to have tax breaks, insurance coverage for partner, ability to be the closest person for medical decisions if they are incapacitated, why shouldnt gays?
we are supposed to have separation of church and state, how can people use the argument that 'god does not think it right' when we are not supposed to be run by religious rules but by what our rights as citizens are supposed to be.
If we want to go by religious rules, one could also say that polygamy is sanctioned by the bible since david and soloman had many wives. we should also have capital punishment for those that commit adultery. Divorce should only be granted for cases of adultery and with no remarriage (if you follow new testament rules)
for those that claim it is a threat to heterosexuality, it does not threaten me, does that mean they are latent homosexuals? it does not threaten any thoughts i have for marriage so why shouldnt they have the same right to legal status for their partner?

Agree or Disagree is not the question.

The question is, where do you get the authority to tell them whether or not they can be married.

There is homosexuality in the Bible.

David and Johnathan.

Saul told David if he married Michal he would be his son in law for the second time.

The original Hebrew reads:
bstym ttctn by hynm

Literally translated:
You will become my son-in-law through two
The two being Jonathan and Michal

In 1 Samuel 18:3
We are told of the covenant between David and Jonathan
the Hebrew word ahbh is used
Literally translated to love/friendship

The key is looking at other passages in the bible that use the word ahbh. 20:17; Genesis 29:20 (Jacob's love for Rachel); and repeatadly throughout the Song of Solomon/Psalms to express a sexual desire - love in the context of marriage.

no I do not agree with homosexual marriage, I do feel it is a sin but let me explain It is also a sin to commit adultery, sleep around, murder, steal, many things that you have to resist just because you may "feel" like doing it doesn't mean you can. I'm married and feel like cheating but I can't because morally that is wrong or I may feel like stealing but don't because that is morally wrong. So my point is that being homosexual is wrong period because it is classified in the bible as a sexual immorality and for good reason, you can't make a nice little home and family with two men or just two women( I mean it's not physically possible) and even if they do have children it may cause the children to have issues and be very confused.

Not at all. God created sex as a sacred act between a husband and a wife, that is, a MAN and a WOMAN. No, I am not a hater. But I don't agree with homosexual marriage. Love the sinner, hate the sin.

Yes. Because I believe in equal opportunities for all. Why should heterosexual people be allowed to control the lives and opportunities of homosexual people. It's wrong. It's the sexuality equivalent of being a racist. If you stopped white people from getting married, there'd be a riot. It's the same thing.

I'm actually bisexual so I thought you may want a different opinion. First, I don't think it's a big deal either way. I think that if the straights want marriage to be for them, that's OK, as long as the GLB's can have some sort of civil union.

Y? Are you a homosexual? It doesn't matter. I say that as long as they are happy and/or in love let them do what they want to do. it doesn't involve anybody else. Just those people who are doing it.

Yes! If you love someone, you love someone. It really shouldn't matter if they got what you got. If that person is making you happy and taking care of home then damnit get married. All this fuss about gay marriages is really annoying, it just proves how closed minded people are. This is America - We do what we do!!!! Regardless!!!!
