Do actors ever completely forget their lines? What do they do?

They often forget their lines! Most often they'll try to carry on, ad-libbing, as they go.

And, often they'll just crack-up-laughing...which You often see on the Bloopers Shows.

all actors forget their lines sometimes - it is called 'corpsing'.

a good actor will have enough of a sense of what is going on in the play to improvise something which will allow her fellow actors to pick up their cues.

a bad actor will go work on american tv.

i don't know if actors do, but i've certainly seen singers forget the lyrics to their songs. i dont' know if they were embarrassed, but i was embarrassed for them:-)
