This is a tough one to answer because time travel could potentially wipe out people's existence, however assuming that I could go back as many times as I wanted (in case my actions caused something negative to happen and I wanted to change them back again) I would probably:
i) Go back and witness the "Big Bang" to see what it's all about
ii) Travel to 1963 to watch the visit of President Kennedy to Dallas and see if anybody was on the grassy knoll.
iii) There would also be a number of people I would love to meet: Einstein, Shakespeare, King Arthur and some of my own ancestors!

id go back to the civil war era. I love those hoop skirts the southern belles wore and i certainly would fight for them even tho im a yankee by birth. Theres something terribly romantic about courting a woman and being a gentleman and riding in a horse and buggy
