Cactuses are a great choice. I've a few plants and only need to pay a little attention to them. They strive greatly. Cactuses may not look attractive, but they're full of surprises. They give me joy. Try to grow a pot first and see if you like it. You can begin from there. Good luck!

There are alot out there but the prettiest all spring and summer is the Lantanna. There are many colors of these, gold,pink and yellow, white, lavender....They grow in any dirt and do not need much water. Then of course there are your succulants, aloe vera, hens and chicks, all cactuses. Go tohttp://www.helpfulgardener.com and see what you can find there. Good luck

every plant needs a little water but her are a few that you can water once or twice a week:almost all the flowers,tomatoes,peppers,onions,motherlaws tongue,aloe vera,roses,pompass grass,trees,shrubs,etc.
you generally dont ever want to water everday any way cause it will cause a fungus,you dont want to keep the ground wet.most plants enjoy a drying out period.not totally starving them for water,you know what i mean>?

any plant with thick leaves or hairy leaves can stand long periods without water
