Leave everything in God's hands. Deal with the issues when they come up, and drop them after they are resolved. A healthy sex life is a good thing. Never argue in front of other family members or friends. If the need to fight arises, take it to another room and discuss, don't yell.
Love as often as you can. Saying thank you for no reason works well. Smile always. Cry on eachothers shoulders.
There are many things to making a marriage work. I have found the above to work for my wife and I.

BOTH of you need to have a committment and desire to make it work. Each of you needs to be the other's MOST important person above ALL else, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, kids, friends, job, money or anything else. Nothing should be more important than your spouse. Good marriages don't just happen, they take a lot of work and effort. Tell each other "I love you" and mean it. If you have to, tell yourself each day that I am going to love him/her today. Go out of your way to make your spouse happy. Don't let anything come between you. Don't take your problems to anyone else (except a marriage cousellor) not family or friends, work it out between the two of you. There are two words; communicate and comprimise. Be honest and don't let things get out of hand before you decide to deal with them and remember who your most important person is and treat them that way.

God's plan.
The man is the head of the wife as God is the head of the church. The man should be the leader in the home and the wife respectful and willing to submit to his decisions. The man should love his wife as himself and put her first and never be selfish. God should lead them both. That is the secret to true peace in a marriage.
Anything with two heads is a monster. A home needs a head (the husband) and a heart (the wife) to truly be healthy.

My wonderful husband has a lovely answer to this question. He says, "No one ever plans for a marriage to fail but you do have to make plans for a marriage to work." In other words it doesn't just happen, you have to make it happen.
And he's absolutely right. We'll have been married for ten years in September and have two beautiful children.

the most important is effective communication. with this you will be able to tackle other things. Then trust in one anoher in that way you can cinfide in yourselves. Respect each other, do not criticize each other mistakes but help build one another. Patience,understanding and love.

oh man all those other people are so close... but the real key is to live without that person for six months, if you were dumb enough to do it you'd really understand how much you love and need them and you'd realize that it doesn't take anything special at all... you just need to think what your life would be like without them
