The stuff that accumulates in the corners of your eye is made of dead cells from the conjunctiva and eyelids, plus dried tears (salt and a little protein, plus a little lipid). It does NOT come from the Canals of Sclemm; that bit sounded very sus to me, so I did a Google search, and found they drain into the blood stream, NOT the tears.

eg:

http://www.99main.com/~charlief/Blindness.htm

"Canals of Schlemm
These canals are located around the perimeter of the iris. They allow aqueous fluid to drain back into the blood stream. The Trabecular Meshwork along with the Canals of Schlemm regulate the eyes internal pressure. In the eye disease called glaucoma, these canals become blocked leading to increased pressure. The increased pressure, from this condition, destroys the optic nerve."

I often see incorrect info posted here. It is a real pity :-(

Eye boogers are actually secretions of aqueous humor through the Canals of Schlemm (a circular canal in the eye that drains aqueous humor). Aqueous humor and its production are essential to normal function of the eye. Since the eye is an optical device and must obey the laws of optics, it has to maintain a certain size and shape, or the quality of the image produced and focused on the retina will suffer. Therefore, it's important that the production and drainage of aqueous humor is balanced to ensure that the eyes function optimally.

Most most likely a clogged tear duct and such a lot Dr.s is not going to deliver meds for this. There are instances whilst this doesn't paintings and after attempting for a couple of days or every week the Dr. will then subscribe meds.... If it nonetheless does no longer paintings (infrequent as it's) they'll commonly do surgical procedure at the tear duct to open it up.....
