Is it true that Yahoo wants to kill one of the things that brings a majority of their users to them, and causes them to make money?

Is it true the Yahoo is closing their door and conceding defeat to Google and Microsoft?

Yahoo is a profitable company BECAUSE of their free offerings. They can charge for premium services, but if they started charging for the basic service such as Messenger, Mail, etc.. They would lose their market to Google and MSN/Microsoft in a matter of days.

I'm always shocked that people proliferate these questions. Why would a company that has a highly profitable market strategy, dump it?
