when u apply for a job make sure you are qualified for the position. u should have skills u know they need . no matter how many times you have done a job put it down .u never know if maybe that's what they are looking for . that how i got my last job . i went there for one job & mentioned a limited experance in another & got the other job.

1. Answer the job ad. The ad will say what kind of experience and what the person will be expected to do in the job. And you should highlight your relevant experience on the top of the resume.
2. Be succinct. A cover letter is good, but not over a page long. Get to the point. Your resume should only be at most 2 pages long. If it's more than that, it indicates you're not very perceptive.
3. Proof read your work. If you make typos, grammar, chronological errors, you look stupid. And the employer also feel stupid reading it.
You don't know how many resumes I've tossed because they don't fit these 3 simple criteria.

There are books on “How to write resume” etc. These books offer great tips on writing an impressive resume and of course your employment history/achievements must be impressive for employers to notice.

If you're good looking / or extremly ugly - put your picture on top
if you know the big boss - add a picture of you and the big boss
If you're poor - enclose a $50 dollar bill
If you're rich - ask for the job but not the pay
