My favorite philosopher is Sri. Aurobindo of India. He is a great Yogi and philosopher. He had a great vision that one day the earth will be transformed and there will be a new species in this earth which will be superior to man in his consciousness. It will resemble God more or The Divine will be manifested in that species .It is called Truth consciousness or supra mental consciousness. He had given a Yoga system for it that is called Integral Yoga.

Epicurus!
He lived 2300 years ago.
He wrote many books and started a new philosophy. His disciples made a "religion" - way of living, after his opinions!
His books where all destroyed and we know of his statements from the ones who spent their lives writing against him, but eventually they became his disciples, centuries after his death.
Some decades ago, in South Italy, his book about Physics was recognized; his 75 volumes work has been burnt but scientist are trying to recover it and thus humanity will solve many problems, in physics as well as in philosophy!
He was in for life, to enjoy with what we have and not to worry for what we do not have!
