At what time do you read?
For how long,usually?
Do you eat or drink when reading? What?

My reading "style," as you put it, is basically unchanged since childhood or adolescence, though my reading content has certainly evolved from that era. In choosing what I read I am careful to select something worthwhile. Why? Because as the cliché goes, I'll never have enough time in this life to read all the books I'd like to. So I generally stick with the classics (I'm something of a scholar of 19th century literature, mostly English, Russian, French and American novels) along with a few contemporary works of history, biography and other such works of nonfiction.

As to favourite styles, I like reading well-written books, period. I don't suffer fools gladly in my real word dealings with people and I am very much the same with regard to reading poorly written literature (i.e., I don't read "popular fiction," aka trash). My favourite authors, in no particular order, are the usual suspects and some others worthy of the same acclaim: Shakespeare, Milton, Austen, Dickens, Hardy, Bronte, Hawthorne, Conrad, Kipling, Wharton, James, Melville, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Gogol, Pushkin, Chekhov, Turgenev, Lermontov, Voltaire, Moliere, Balzac, Flaubert, Zola, Camus, Kafka, Mann, Orwell, Greene, Churchill, Bellow, Dick, Tolkien, Adams, Keegan, Ambrose, Updike, Amis, Theroux and Hornby (the last few are contemporary).

I will occasionally read something new (or old) and different, particularly when recommended by a friend. I like to keep an open mind. I do re-read certain books (not the best of habits considering my earlier argument about time) for sentimental reasons, like 'The Complete Sherlock Holmes,' 'The Lord of the Rings,' 'The Wind in the Willows,' and 'Watership Down' but that's likely because those books have childhood and adolescent associations.

I'd like to have a special place to read but the truth is I've read almost everywhere and under almost every conceivable circumstance. I've read on planes, trains and buses. I've read at home, at work, in school, in libraries, in restaurants, in cafés, in airport terminals, in hotel lobbies, in hospitals, in doctors' waiting rooms, at laundromats, on park benches, front porches, decks and patios; I've read in bed, sitting in every room of the house (except the bathroom, which I just find icky, lol), standing, walking and even while chewing gum at the same time. ;-)

I can read at any time of the night or day, quite comfortably. It's a natural remedy for insomnia, though in recent years the internet has superseded it in that regard, alas. The duration varies. If I've time on my hands and find the book particularly engrossing, I can read for hours and hours. Other times, I'll read a chapter or two (or less) and have to put the book down again because I've too much to do. It really depends on circumstances. I'll occasionally eat and/or drink while reading but not usually. Mind you, a cup of tea and a good book is a heavenly combination. :)

I definitely prefer silence when reading. Music or a television or radio blaring in the background can only be viewed as unnecessary distractions... I try to avoid reading several books at the same time but had to, of course, do just that while at university. So I can and occasionally do read more than one book at once but I generally seek to avoid it. Again, it can prove distracting... And in answer to your final follow-up query, I ALWAYS read the book in its entirety. Unless of course I find that a well-meaning friend has recommended something truly awful and I cannot read another word of it, in which case I cease and desist and try to pretend my brain was never contaminated with such inferior rubbish. In other words, I don't count that as actually reading. ;-)

Moon, I really LOVED this question! Indeed, it was such a pleasure to ponder and answer it that I actually began it at home and had to finish it when I arrived at work. Cheers! :)

Well choosing books isn't that hard because ALL of them are good, otherwise... why would they be on the shelf of the library or bookshop anyway? I basically enjoy reading all types of books.

By the way, I prefer getting books from a library. It's really convenient for me.

I will not go back and read the book again unless it is utterly necessary. You only experience the 'feeling' for a book the first time you read it. The second time... you know what's going to happen, so you aren't curious or excited or anything.

I like reading on my bed, because it's the most comfiest and most quiet place to read.

I read at any old time, whether it's at 2:00 am or 2:00 pm, it doesn't make a difference. (unless I have school the next day)

It depends whether I'm into the book yet if I read for a couple of minutes or for a couple of hours.

I try not to eat or drink while reading, it spoils the atmosphere.

I like silence.

I read the whole book, though sometimes I take a sneek peek at the end to see if I like it.

One book at a time.

My style of reading is relaxing on my bed and reading the whole thing.
How do I chose -
I dunno exactly but when I see the book - I see the title and the cover, and if the summary kind of thing behind it is interesting (and specially if it does NOT reveal the whole story) then I am sure to read it.

I do not go much for online / ebooks. I prefer paperbacks/hardbounds (I like to hold the book to read it.)

If I like a book I dont mind reading it a Zillion times....!!!!

Love thrillers, scifi, comedies, mysteries, romances (well in short everything except which does not appeal to me).

I really don't like any sort of distraction while reading, love peace and quite (that means no music, no eating drinking)

I've my own leisurely speed and I finish one average book in two or three days.

I love reading.......

I choose religious and family care books generally.

I like the books that lists the quotations in footnotes.

Sometimes I read a book again

I have no special place to read

Usually at mornings and travelling on bus etc.

Length depends on the joy I get from reading

I don't eat or drink while reading, it distracts my concentration and maybe because of the respect for book

I prefer silence but sometimes I listen to slow musics

Yap! :)

My favorite book styles are drama, horror, mystery and fanatasy. I choose the books i read by the authors i like[ R.L.Stine, Francine Pascal, Norma fox, Meg Cabot, Johanna M. Malcom, Joan Lowery Nixon, etc]. I do NOT like rereading- its like once I've read it it'll either stay with me[ most of the time when its good] or i'll forget about it and move on to the next book. I llisten to any kinda music when Im reading as long as its really low and I'm really into the book I'm reading. When it comes to reading I'm very fast and it only takes a dayor a fw hours to get through with the book.

Lets see, where to begin. Firstly i like fictional fantasy, something to take me out of this world and put me in another. I really like other world fantasy or of this world sci-fi. I like to imagine what it might be on a world with other limitations than ours but i also like fiction about where we might go from this point right now, a better future. Right now i'm re-reading Peter F. Hamiltons Pandoras Star followed by Judas Unchained.(I highly recomend it). My favorite place to read is the bath tub, something about the silence and isolation, i can't read with distractions. If there is anything you recomend please e-mail suggestions to me.
