The plant is about 3 ft tall has multicolored leaves of dark green and light green; the leaves are almost tear drop shaped and grow on a stem that is straight with 8 or 9 leaves at the tip in a circle...I was told that she is an outdoor plant....but I need to know if she likes full sun, shade....Any help will be appreciated

That is really impossible to know the answer to. I'd be guessing a 'coleus'. Take it to a local nursery. They will identify it for you.
