Pigeons are not indoor pets. They are just as messy as chickens, turkeys and ducks.

All are perfect in a barn environment.

My cousin has a aviary in his backyard for his sporting pigeons. They stop flying midair, then fall almost to the ground before flying again.

Anyway, it is easier to keep them clean when you can hose out their home every once in awhile.

Open the door and let it fly out...Like all the other pigeons that out in the free outdoors? You want an in door bird for a pet, get a canary or a parakeet...

if you don't like pigeon crap, let it go,but the chances are real good that it will return. pigeons are like that, once they find a place they like they will always return there. i caught one when i was a young boy and brought him to my house and kept it on the front porch, then one day as it was returning from flying , it had brought more pigeons home with it.i had to eventually kill them with a pellet rifle. there was so much unhealthy crap all over the porch.

Birds in the open still choose to shi-t in their own roosting places and nests.

You can't train them to do otherwise - its unnatural. Keep it in a cage most of the time or in an outdoor aviary.
