The term lover implies that you are in a sexual relationship with them (although curiously it does not necessarily mean you 'love' them, you could just be having a sexual affair).
A friend is someone you are buddies with! Share stuff, help out, care about etc... Of course your lover can also be your friend - in fact, if you are going for the long term, they should be!

well friends come with not many strings but lover has a soul tie to it once you cross that line of friend to lover it changes everything.you are connected for life. and if your not ready for that just remain friends because when you think you love him that's a whole other story...

hopefully a friends is just that someone you talk to, someone you go to the movies with, hang around with, A lover is someone you love, and have sex with, some people have sex with friendsss lol prolly a lot do.. but when you love someone in that more than friends stage then they become your lover.
