Don't accelerate too hard, soft press is enough in city conditions.

Judge the crowd on the road and possible stoppages at traffic signals, avoid acceleration if possible.

Ensure that your hand breaks are completely released and your wheels are free. You should not ride on your clutch pedal unnecessarily.

Have your car serviced at regular intervals, particularly before and after rains.

If you have to halt for more than two minutes, switch off the engine.

Avoid giving to others your car for driving. Different handling cause damage to the vehicle operations.

Try driving at the highest possible gear (no rash driving) at the earliest of each driving session.

Driving vehicles for short distances cause more fuel consumption. Engine optimises after 20-25 minutes of running.

Car tyres should always have the manufacturer recommended air pressure.

keep your car maintained and tuned up, fluids, brakes and tires inflated correctly can improve you car's gas performance and the life of your car. Paying attention to your driving habits' Are you heavy footed, Speed is you thing needless driving practices is your way. Well if you want better gas efficiency you will have to train yourself and pay attention to bad driving habits. Also if you live in a high traffic area as I do Try carpooling, mass transit or better paths to your destination when traffic jams are the norm for your area. And yes even walking you can save money on gas and get healthier. This I do since my car is a gas chugging Tahoe. And the mass transit train is 4 blks from my work.

insure the tires are inflated to within 3 to 4 pounds of the max pressure, make sure the ignition system is spot on, not sure what kinda car that is, but newer cars have a computer that controls most of the functions of the car's engine, if you drive a certain way it records this and sets parameters depending on how you drive. If your easy and stay off the floorboard, you should start to see an improvement within 3 days.

Tune up. new filters, cruise control on highway, maintaining speed limits and no jack rabbit starts. Try to avoid city driving and prolonged idling as well. Make sure the tire pressure is where it should be, 32-35 psi is normal for a car tire. Try to avoid AC as much as possible, there is a compressor that turns on whenever you turn on the AC unit, this makes the engine work twice as hard.

i've always just eased on the gas from a dead stop. it seems as if you gun it when you start driving, it burns more gas. try and use fuel injector cleaner also. that will clean out your tank and possibly give you a little better mileage. i have had the same problem of my car sucking up gas with the AC on. just be sure to get your car in the shop every once in a while to make sure everything is ok.

Don't drive over the speed limit, get a fuel system clean every 15,000 miles, oil changes and filter changes... keep up with your preventative maintenance... and you should be cool

do not use the aircondition :)
if your transmission is manual try to switch when you realise that the rpm reaches 2600-3000 and engine sounds loudly.
