Please qualify "arts" - are you referring to performing arts, i.e. singers? Them probably one would have to list such great opera stars as Monserat Cabalier (who sang the famous Barcelona World Cup Soccer theme song along with Freddy Mercury of Queen fame); Sarah Brightman, who sang the first Phantom of the Opera lead role and made the music of this operetic pop show famous; Madonna (the immortal material girl) who gave such memorable performances as Evita's Eva Peron a distinct place in history when she begs Argentina not to cry for her; Judy garland, who as a young teen made fame by performing the wonderful music of The Wizard of Oz and made such songs as "Somewhere over the rainbow" forever memorable; or the little Paris Sparrow, Edith Piaff, who could ahve started a new French revolution with her crooning songs, etc.
If one should include other performing arts, i.e. stage, perhaps ballet diva Margot Fontaine should be top of the list, as one dancer who had transcended more than three decades of top performing ballet dancing; or actresses such as Marilyn Monroe, who had set the tone for future starkets as the buxom blond who maintained to the end that blonds have more fun and diamonds are a girls best friend.
Purer arts forms should include the enigmatic Mona Lisa - the mystery lady with the magical smile amongst those who were painted on canvas; or photographic models such as well-known British Pg. 3 naked model Samantha Fox; or probably the most photographed women in the world: Jackie Kennedy-Onasis, Princess Caroline, Princess Diana, etc.
Lesser known and less published are the authors in a myriad of genres: My personal favourites include Olive Schreiner of "Story of an African farm" fame; Anne McCaffrey of the "Drogons of Pern" fame; etc.

There you are - one could go on and on - make your pick!
