These shoes are a real gem. They were my Aunt's when she got married. They are made of snake skin and therefore need tender loving care to fix. I need a cobbler in London that I can really trust or some othe solution to hold up the sling backs.

Yes definately go and see a cobbler. If you do not have one I suggest an old business as this person has been around for a long time, knows their stuff and will have greater customer service.

Here is a probable option the cobbler may be able to do to tighten the back strings....he could un-pick the joins, trim a bit of the leather and sew a tiny piece of elastic in each side then re join them again. This will make it tighter but still stretchy so that they wont fall down.

Good luck. My mum has a vintage pair of blood red Chrisitan Diors from the late 60's....too bad I dont fit into them.
