As a cat owner I doubt it very much that you will be able to stop them tearing open the bags as mine do the same. I can only suggest that you keep the rubbish bag(s) in the shed or garage until the day theyre collected. Or get one of those plastic bins with a lid so the cats cant get to it. Cats are very inquisitive animals and have a very high sense of smell therefore they can smell food in them. I even have to keep carrier bags away from mine indoors as they love to get in them and chew them. Hope this helps x

Get a wheelie bin. Or try some dirty nappies in your rubbish bin - it stops the foxes so it should stop the cats. Perhaps they are after the meat/fish in your rubbish - maybe you could seal these items in a smaller bag then put them in the bin liner? Cats also hate citrus smells so half a lemon in your bag might do the trick? Good luck but please don't hurt the cats.

I think your best bet is to always keep the bags stored in a rubbish bin . If you dont have a wheelie bin , get one or at least get some kind of bin with a securable lid.
I use to have 2 cats and I know what they are like.

Cats are continual creatures and don't take the word "no" ok. no longer asserting they are able to't be knowledgeable- yet while everybody has tried to maintain a dogs from begging or digging for scraps, cats are a number of situations extra complicated. That being reported- the main suitable deterrant could be a barrier. some sort of tightly sealed bin with the aid of fact the previous poster stated or putting the garbage below a counter or something to that impact till you're taking it to the perfect trash. if that's the perfect trash they are digging into- they do have trash cans with locking lids however the form we've have heavy lids no cat is going to get below (they are the containers provided by ability of Waste administration) so it would not would desire to be a locking lid basically a complicated/heavy one. As for tiger droppings- i might think of droppings of any variety- particularly those of a predator could be some sort of deterrent. No assure they'll remedy the priority. start up smaller. Cats are not loopy approximately their very own poop- that could help. Have a dogs? attempt dogs poop. while you're particularly desirous to objective tiger droppings ask the interior of sight zoo in case you have one. they could be happy to donate! I definitely think of the least complicated way is to place something between the garbage and the cat! maximum suitable of success.

I tried this once, 'it works' As you put your rubbish out, take an extra bag with you, Make sure the cat or cats cant see you, climb in the bag yourself and sit quietly wait for the cat, jump out and scare them silly. (make sure you put holes in the bag for breathing), And Make sure its the cat you scare not the postman, very embarrassing, but at least the postman doesn't tear my bags ...anymore.
