I was working at this camp. first as a councillor for summer camp, and then in the kitchen as year round staff, with the understanding that I would get to be a councillor again when summer camp started again. While I worked there, I always got great evaluations, and a raise every quarter (from $7.50 up to $8.50)

When I showed up to councilor training, they took me aside, and told me I had a lack of communication skills, and I wasn't welcome. I offered to go back to work in the kitchen, and they almost started yelling at me to leave. Then I told them they should fire me since I'd been there for a year, but they wouldn't do that either.

When I fill out an application, I don't know what to write for "Reason for leaving," and I don't know what box to check for "May we contact this employer." I've been out of work for a year now without a single phone call... Except for the camp, which asked me to come back, but then turned down my application. What's the deal?

I once put in my two week notice at my job and the day after I put in my notice they asked me to leave. They did not fire me. I asked if I was being fired. On applications I put that I quit and the reason that I left. Mostly put "Looking for a wider range of experience," or something like that. I always tell them that they can call my previous job. My job can't say anything bad about me or else it is slander. They can say that you did work there and that they would or would not hire you back. All other employers will give you a chance to explain why you left. Just don't speak badly of your previous employer. If you were fired they will say that they won't hire you back. If you quit they can say that you are rehirable. Since they did not say that you were fired you can say that you resigned.

I would ignore any further correspondence or offers you get from the camp - they are not worth bothering with and you will only be wasting your time. For "Reason for leaving" you could put down that you felt under-valued or that the job did not suit you.
