Perhaps i am stressed out or just naturally 'hyper'. Could this be the case? I don't know what to do. Please help.

First cut down on caffeine if you are drinking that. MAke sure you are getting plenty of exercise. Don't eat food too late in the evening. Read mind numbing things before bed (don't watch TV). Pray.

There are a whole list of things that sleep clinics recommend.

read something boring.

get out of bed ( don't do anything interesting or very physical) and go back to bed 20 minutes later.

take a warm shower or bath just before bed.

Establish a routine for 30 or 40 minutes before bed - Do the same things every night, getting more relaxed, then go to bed. So your brain and body know what to expect.

I was also told to cut out caffeine, not to eat for 3 hours before going to bed, and to drink Valerian Root tea.

The tea smelled and tasted truly terrible. i don't think it helped.

If nothing helps, consider going to a Sleep Clinic so you can see if there is a specific cause ( like Sleep Apnea) .

I have also gone through phases when I had a hard time falling asleep.

First of all - I have found watching TV is a really bad thing to do before going to bed (or in bed!) becuase the screen flickers so much - I have also read that the refresh rate is so high, it's hard for your eyes & mind to relax.

Also - really important - when you can't fall asleep relatively quickly - get up out of bed! When you are in bed & frustrated, then falling asleep won't work. I get up, take a pretty boring book to the couch, and lay down to read it - most often I fall asleep pretty quickly. Then, if I wake up later, I just walk over to bed and normall fall right back asleep again.

I would also warn against eating or drinking too much right before going to bed - your digestion will keep you up, or, worst case - you will have to get up to pee!

Good luck!

3 things to do :
1. Have shower before u sleep
2. Have some hot drink after shower
3 Then read some nice book, which interests u, for some time only, cos this gives ur eyes strain, and that will make u feel sleepy.
And the imp thing, check ur diet if it proper.

wear your self out during the day. Run several miles, lift weights, play football, something like that. Take melatonin, or somethin, ( yeah, it might be spelled wrong ) a naturall sleep aid, go to a stripclub and get drunk. Expensive, but almost ensured to have good dreams. Seee a couselor, do what is right with your consicne.... maybe.. **k the world.

Go without sleep for 24 hours than reset your sleeping time. Take phone off hook and sleep well.

Another choice is read until you are sleepy or watch T.V. until you go to sleep.
Drink a warm glass of milk it has a natural sleep aid when warm
, Tryptophan.

Don't get on the computer or TV right before you sleep...the light stimulates you. Also, it helps to have a ritual- for me, it's a hot shower, relaxing and calming. But it's mportant to have consistency- do the same thng before bed, wake up and go to sleep at the same time if you can....

a few things to try - dont drink coffee, dont have sugary foods before bed, dont eat just before bed, have a cup of chamomile tea before bed, try meditation, reduce stress in your life, try not to go to bed with things on your mind, create a comfortable dark sleeping environment, put lavendar drops on your pills.

A note on exercise - if you do it before bed you wont have a refreshing deep sleep. Exercise helps, but do it early in the day, ideally before work.
