I did.
I went on a cruise on the Nile so I meet people on the boat (not a ship - cruises are different there and much smaller).
I normally went out with the group and even being in part of a group I found that the men would stare at me, try to touch me and made rude comments (I am tall and have done some modelling in the pas so I think I stuck out from my fairly short group a bit). I would not recommend being alone too much and definitely not at night.
I did enjoy my visit and I would like to go back but there is no way that I would travel alone and stay in hotels by myself (I like the group feel of the boat and the armed guards on the boat to protect us).

I am Egyptian and I tell you it's safe. Just note the dressing rules of the places you're visiting. For instance if you go to Sharm you can walk around in whichever type of clothes you feel like wearing, shorts, mini skirts and bikinis are very normal there and it's a lot of fun at night. If you intend on going to Cairo you'll have to be a bit more reserved with clothes, nothing choking but nothing very revealing either and it's the same case among most other places in Egypt...except Sharm, and other Sinai cities.

Hi there,
I'm an Egyptian girl living in Egypt. I can tell you that yes it is safe to travel here alone. meaning that nothing bad should happen to you. But will you get a lot of male attention, yes definitely. Egyptian men unfortunately think women like to be oogled by sweaty hairy ugly men of all ages. sorry there. But you can help yourself by dressing modestly and ignoring them. They are quite harmless. Just noisy. And by dressing modestly i would suggest no sleeveless tops, see-through skirts or short shorts. If you stick to t-shirts and cropped pants you should be perfectly fine. Oh and if ur not a blond that helps :) Blonds get more attention.
As for where to visit, then Cairo and Luxor for the ancient monuments, or Sharm Elsheikh for the beaches. Sharm is the best. and there you can dress however you like (as long as you don't swim topless)
Egypt is a wonderful place to see. quite worth it!

I traveled there alone, it was just fine. Yes, like the others said, dress appropriately. In the resorts, dress as you please. Anywhere else, dress conservatively. You don't have to cover your head, but I do recommend that out of respect if you plan on entering a mosque.
It was 1am and I was walking alone down a main street. There was nothing to be afraid of. Here in Los Angeles one would be crazy to do that, but in Cairo (and the rest of Egypt), it's safe.

Not recommended. Went there for our 3rd honeymoon. Everywhere we go, the locals would tail you around to sell stuff or services. No travel freedom.
Public toilets are dirty and surprisingly, there wasn't any supermarket like Tesco, Sainsbury etc. in Cairo.
Above all, we did enjoy the Nile Cruise and the amazing historical sites.

yes it is as safe to travel to egypt as to any other country when alone, only take precautions not to wear revealing clothes and take guard of thefts (who could be in any country)
As a first time visitor you can go to Khan Al khalil, Pyramids, old Cairo (seven churches), and ofcourse you must not miss the Nile cruise at night

it is all safe to travel alone in Egypt , I'm Egyptian and i can sure you that, and you'll have a lot of fun, but please for the girl who complained from the group she went out with, honey you did let them into you, you don't just get friends with anyone, cause for god sake you don't do this in your country why would you do it here? and then complain about what they think of you??

If you have light skin you will stick out like a sore thumb. That place has a large terrorist organization in addition they also cater to human trafficing. I wouldnt reccomend it. But hey if your going to be dumb just be tough. When ali baba tries to take you away dont scream, becasue nobody will care anyway.
