Looking just at the United States as a piece of the world, some cultures have changed very little. For example, the Amish or Mennonites live much like they did 100 years ago.
On the other hand some inner city gang cultures have drastically changed their neighborhoods in the last decade. Language, dress (I might call it fashion), and behavior that was totally unacceptable 10 years ago is at least tolerated now.
Somewhere between the two extremes comes the rest of us. Here there is a wide divergence between the material and the spiritual. Some members leaping toward at totally materialistic agnostic point of view, while others are worrying less about possessions and more about spiritual or moral goals.
No broad sweeping generalistic terms seem to cover everything. Complicating the issues are the interconnections becoming available through the use of computer networking including sites like this one. It will be a long time before the results of these new personal contacts will be known.

I'm from the Philippines so let me say something about it.
The Phillipines nowadays is being run by powerplay of which religion, morality and culture is being dictated by the Supra Elites and Elites (Class A &B). Add to that the Middle class being indifferent and adamant of the situation. As for the lower class, they seek being an upper class so that they could also dictate, manipulate and regulate power.
It is like the story of the Ogre that never dies. People fears him so much that they wish of him being killed but nobody tries to put this wish into action. One day, a lad declared that he had gathered enough bravery and skill to slay the ogre. With this, he didn't find it difficult to slay it. But still the Ogre never died. Why? Because the lad became the Ogre.
That's what we have here right now. We seek of a salvation from others and not be hero ourselves. We blame our poverty to those people who have tried to become a hero but failed. To those who became successful, they to had become the ogre. They will do everything just to have their way.
We could not blame anybody else of this but ourselves. We had played a deaf ear to complaints and had been blinded by gifts and donations from those who are superior to us. Not minding their mistakes because we benefit from them. Our values have been changed drastically. Before, when a girl is raped by a politician, people persecute the man and does not stop until he is dead. Nowadays, whenever raped, we persecute the girl of being a bimbo. We filter what we want to hear and see.
I truly belive that there is a chance for this to change. But I fear that once it does, it would be worst. That we will be ogre ourselves.

"Whenever I hear the word culture, I reach for my revolver"
supposedly said by Hermann Goering (1893-1946), German Nazi leader. Attributed. Whether or not Goering ever said it, the only recorded source of this remark is the play Schlageter (1933) by Hanns Johst (1890-1978), Nazi playwright and president of the Reich Chamber of Literature. The line is spoken by a storm trooper in act 1, sc. 1: "When I hear the word culture, I cock my Browning."

we need to learn and teach our children how to become positive forces of change and how to build ties in our and become active voting members of our communities
we also need to accept accountability for the problems or issues that we would like to see improved and make plans and follow through in becoming part of the solution and not be afraid to ask questions, think for ourselves and seek out knowledge from others whose dogma we do not agrre with we have alot to learn from one another and this world and our own little worlds inside this small one would be much improved if we could learn to put down our differences for a couple minutes and look to each other for advice or examples to learn from on how to be effective in creating positive changes and then pick up our differences and cling to them for dear life

We are impatient. We are wasteful. Everything is disposable. We are not interested in self reflection, unless it's to comb our hair.
We are more seperated by societies structure. Suburbs are killing America in many ways.
Fame is our religion. The media controls many peoples minds. Children are too fat and so are their parents. (disposable fast food diets).
We are addicted to technology. We are killing ourselves in many ways.
