Everyone on that has answered seems to be close, but the number one reason is LAND. More fights/wars have come due to land disputes, conquest for more land, and envy of others land than anything else. Sure Greed is the sin that is fueling the want, but ultimatly it is over land.

Colonies were the common cause for both both the world war.
If colonism existed there was every chance of having a third world war.
If now a world war breaks then it will lead to mass destruction as now almost every country possess nuclear weapon.

neither.......it is religion........no joke......everyone thinks their god is the only true god.........from atheist to zen........most people and cultures are not "open" enough to accept differing religious beliefs
