As long as you're sure he's not going to fall off (he's not rolling over or mobile), and there's no loose blankets, pillows, stuffed animals..... he should be fine.

With the rolling, it's not as safe as it would be if he weren't a mover. You can place pillows all around him as bumpers if he isn't mobile enough to get over them yet. A lot of parents just put their mattress on the floor from the time their child can crawl until they are able to safely get off the bed by themselves.

assuming he's not old or big enough to roll over them, put pillows and/or rolled up blanket around him so he won't roll off bed... or put the bed against the wall and just block off the area around him that's not against the wall... my mom used to do that for my little brother when he was taking naps...
i'd recommend that for overnight sleep though... better put him in his crib
once we had to go out of town for a couple of days so the baby didn't sleep in his crib, he got to sleep in bed w/ my mom... because my dad moves around a lot in his sleep she kicked him out of the bed [lol] so he wouldn't crush my brother or hurt him in his sleep. after we came back my lil' brother wouldn't sleep anywhere else but next to my mom in the bed. and that's pretty much how they've been sleeping for the last 2 years... except that i took off the side railing to his crib and my mom put that side of his crib right next to her bed, so she gets him to sleep in his crib but then at night he can roll over to the bed
it's been pretty safe, no accidents or anything

It is *only* safe if you are there with him *and* you make sure that the bed is safe (see sources section below). If you are awake and in the room with him, I would still suggest you follow those recommendations.

If you have the right safety measures installed, such as a bedside protector, even a vigilant parent is counted as one, he should be safe and sound honey. :)

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG IN IT BUT PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE HIM ALONE IN THE ROOM SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE AN EYE ON HIM ALWAYS SINCE HE IS A BABY.ALSO NOTE THAT THE BED SHOULD HAVE BOUNDARY BARRIERS TO PREVENT THE CHILD TO FALL DOWN IF IT IS SO.

if your laying with him, and hold him to you then it is perfectly safe, mother's instinct will keep you from hurting him. if he is by himself, as long as you keep an eye on him, he will be fine
