First of all, the school that you want to attend has advisors for financial aid. They can see if you are eligible for state grants or aid. You also need to fill out the free application for federal student aid. Being a single mother, you should get a pell grant at least, and will be able to get student loans that you won't have to pay back until you finish your degree. Good luck, and kudos to you for trying to improve your situation!

Go to your local community college, get a FAFSA form, fill it out, and send it in. Do it quickly because the best time to have done it is January, but there may still be some free money left. Talk to a counselor. He or she should have some grant and scholarship information for their school. Go to the library and look in the College Blue Book-- it has listings of grants and scholarships available, most of which have to be applied for by March. This should help for next year. Visit the guidance counselor at your old high school and get any forms and information they have for financing college. Grants and scholarships usually don't have to be paid back, loans do, but they're a bargain compared to almost any other debt. If you're interested in the military, talk to the local recruiter about National Guard or Military aid plans that they have. Good luck and happy living.

To begin you need to apply for financial aid. If you are looking into a certain college or university, they will help you fill these forms out. You will submit these papers, and with the help of the university you should be able to attend beginning as soon as you would like. The first thing that I would recommend is to find a university that you are interested in and talk with someone in the admissions department. They will offer all the assistance that you need to continue your education. Good Luck to You!

look for scholarships and grants. Pell grants are available, charitable organizations have scholarships, women's groups often have money for education. If you are ethnically diverse, you may be able to apply to the ethnic group's association for money from them. Excellent Ivy League schools have grants available, too.

Good luck.
