Sorry about your loss. My mother is a maternity nurse and cot deaths are sometimes very shocking and surprisingly common. She has a theory that a new born baby forgets how to breathe since it is not 100% used to doing it. This usually happens within the first 3 months of life. After that, the danger lessens. I hope my answer helps you.

you should never placed cereal in toddler's bottle or provide any nutrition in the previous 6 months. some little ones are waiting at 5 months and a pair/few weeks, yet many are not till they are over 6 months previous. If formula isn't fulfilling him, enhance the dimensions of the feeds. toddler isn't waiting to consume nutrition yet, or cereal. All it is going to do is rip up his intestines and make him bleed from them, he can't digest it because of the fact his intestine isn't waiting for it, so it won't supply ANY nutrition. My different project is which you're feeding your toddler cereal and a sauce/puree. Neither are counseled because of the fact they are risky. Doing it is not any longer merely a choking danger (sitting up with some help has no longer something to do with the chewing and swallowing reflex being stepped forward) besides the undeniable fact that it is placing your toddler up for being obese, diabetic, suffering thyroid matters, having no urge for nutrition administration, anemia, hypersensitive reactions, abdomen and intestine matters and nutrition intolerances, bronchial asthma and different respiratory matters, immune equipment no longer possibly completely useful so possibly to fall unwell, nervous equipment harm this is everlasting and would reason issues like MS and different neural degenerative illnesses. He could be having 4-6oz and feeding each and every 2 hours is superb. yet NO nutrition. Feeding him additionally awould be making him thirsty or needing extra milk so he does not get constipated. merely stick to the guidelines for feeding and you will no longer have those styles of problems. it is likewise very established for formula-fed little ones to wish a pacifier after a feed.

It was probably SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). It's unexplainable really, and there's nothing one can do to stop it. I lost a cousin to SIDS when I was 16. Here's a web site that may help you, it explains it better than I can. I'm deeply sorry to hear about your loss.

SIDS would be my guess as well. While it is far less likely to happen with a baby who is sleeping with an adult* because the baby's movement will alert the adult to a problem and the adult's breathing helps regulate the baby's breathing, it does happen. My sympathy on your loss.

*assuming the adult is not sleeping heavily due to factors such as exhaustion, medications, or alcohol
