I refuse to lie awake in the dark and go crazy when I can be online, watch tv or read a book.I am going to the doctor soon to be treated for this. What can I do in the meantime to make him understand?

I have the same problem. My husband has even tried just staying up with me till I am tired enough to fall asleep, but he has to get up really early in the morning, so he ends up really exhausted. For awhile he thought that I just couldn't stand to sleep with him or something...I had to explain to him that it wasn't that at all. I explained to him that I didn't want to keep him up all night tossing and turning when I knew he had to be up early.

The solution I've found so far is to just tell him that I'll lay with him till he falls asleep and then get up if I can't. I usually stay in there for about a half hour or so, and it really helped him understand that I DO want to lay with him, but that I really just can't sleep.

I have a similar problem - not insomnia, just a night owl (it's almost 2 am now) and my husband complains, too.
Would your hubby mind if you laid in bed with him and read a book or quietly watched tv? At least in the mean time.
If that won't work, perhaps you could just lay there awhile with him and spend time with him until he falls asleep so he doesn't feel like you don't want to be with him. ????

I have this same problem with my hubby (not necessarily in terms of insomnia, just different bed times, he works early, I work late). He says he can't go to sleep without me in the bed with him, which is kind of sweet, but can be irritating if I'm not tired!! The way I deal with it is to lie in bed and hug him until he goes to sleep, then, when I'm sure he is, replace myself with some folded blanket and sneak out. If he calls out or wakes up I say "just going to the loo!" and usually he goes "ok" and falls back asleep again. I can then sneak back to bed when I feel tired after my night wanderings.

Hope this helps!

Reassure him often that you love him.
Assure him that your not using it as an excuse to be online.
Be aware of how he may view your actions while your up.
Book and tv are probably ok,, online is scary to spouses when it seems you might be spending more time there than with them.
Touch him,, make love with him. Let him know you love him and thank him for his patience with you SINCERELY until you get to the DR. Best wishes.

Spend a couple of nights thrashing around next to him trying to get to sleep.
