What are the possible chances of conceiving this month due to the fact that I followed the proper guidelines of trying to conceive and being off the pill for 5 months now?

On what basis did you decide that you ovulated on 4 June? If you were checking basal body temperature, and your temperature rose on that date, you were already post-ovulation, and sex on 5 June would have been almost certainly too late. But 3 June would have been right on schedule.

If you used an ovulation predictor kit, it is possible that the kit was wrong. The kits actually measure when your body produces an increased amount of luteinizing hormone (LH) which helps mature an egg for ovulation. However, sometimes, your body *starts* to produce more LH, then "changes its mind" and doesn't ovulate. In this case, you may ovulate several days later--and it could be too late for sex on 5 June to leave sperm that could live long enough.

Even if you *did* get the date of ovulation correct, there is a high likelihood that you have a "short luteal phase" after coming off the pill (it is pretty common for the first year). If you ovulate less than 10-12 days before your next period, the fertilized egg may not have enough time to get from the Fallopian tube (where fertilization occurs) to the uterus to implant before you are already losing the uterine lining in preparation for your next period.

I would strongly suggest you read the book, _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler to help you understand exactly what is happening. Good luck!!

Each cycle a couple with no fertility problems have a 25% chance of conceiving.

Having sex once per day provides the best chance of becomming pregnant. Sperm can live inside the woman for up to five days, so it is best to have sex on each of those five days before ovulation and the day of ovulation to conceive quickly.

Are you sure you're ovulating-did you use a test? If you are, it's still a crap shoot! There are so many variables to becoming pregnant that you did the only things you could to increase your chances. Good luck!
