Forbidden Planet - 1956 (I'm old). The steps up to the space ship were deforming as the invisible monster slowly crept up to kill some crew members. Later, the invisible monster came back and became momentarily visible as it tried to break through the force field to attack the space ship. It was sort lion like. The folks at Disney did the animation for the monster and other special effects.

It was the first movie for Anne Francis. She played an 18 year old girl who had never seen a young man before.

And then theres Robbie the Robot. Way cool!

AND

The Day The Earth Stood Still - 1951 The very first of the modern sci-fi genre. Klaatu the spaceman lands in a park in the middle of Washington, DC and tells the world to shape up before it takes its first steps into space, or Gort the awesome robot wil "Lay waste to your world". I remember thinking how weird it was that Klaatu just waved his hand and the lights and machinery came on inside the spaceship. How could that ever happen??

Scary!

The Omen (the original)... and maybe again (the new version). The old version was starred by Gregory Peck (what an actor!!!)... I hope a better new version... who knows?... Listen Ave Satani (the main theme of the soundtrack) and scare; its enough.

Other films:
The Blair Witch Proyect.
The thing.
Psyco II.
Jaws.
Close encounters of the third kind.
E.T the extraterrestial (at the beginning).

Hands down PLANET OF THE APES (the original). My uncle was babysitting and insisted on watching it on HBO or something and I was wrecked for weeks. To this day monkeys/apes/simians freak me out. Ditto THE WIZARD OF OZ, flying monkeys.
