okay...my ex boyfriend got jealous that a guy friend has been emailing me...so just to spite me, he decided to change the password (the one you have to type in whenever you log into your administrator settings on windows xp)...he works in the IT dept. at a school...so he's good with computers. but i know there is a way to reset it...quite simple...does anyone know how??? i cant do anything on my computer until i reset it...and i need it. and for the record, i am on my friends internet right now! haha please help!

its the password that you have to type in if your computer has been shut down and you're trying to log onto windows!

boot up in safe mode, try to log in as admin and hope ther is no password, and tehn go to control panel, sers and selet your password, then reboot and make a new one.
If admin has a password, the it gets harder' go to this page for instructions in using the recovery console

if you have any experience with Linux, the live-cd version, Knoppix and a brute force password breaker can extremely help... of course without experience this method is meaningless..besides it requires taking a 2 files..intricate process E-mail me if interested....................... Admin accounts on Win XP usually are hidden and password less... so that is a definate consideration (boot Windows into start-up and an account named "Administrator" should be shown and can be logged into without a password then start a new user and delete old)...besides that Linux can recover important files then re-install Windows, oradding your hard-drive to another computer as a secondary hard-drive backing up all your important files, and re-installing Windows is an option...besides those difficult processes you are quite out of luck my friend I am dearly sorry.
