I'm coaching a group of 6th grade boys and they think the only way to score is off the dribble, and don't know the meaning of the word assist or moving w/o the ball (and the ballhandler recognizing a cutter). What could be some drills to help with this?

Make them pass 5 - 10 times until they can shoot. If they don't do it, then make them run. It worked for me.

Have two of them run down the length of the court at the same time from different sides while only passing the ball (no dribbling).

For passing. Have them run drills like the 3 man weave. or run down the court making 15 passes. Make sure they pass to every man on the court before the shot. you should also make them cut as soon as they pass.
