The guy who thinks everyone is related to Adam and Noah made me laugh so much. Thanks for the joke!

The human genomic evidence, using simple sequence repeats (SSRs -- aka genetic fingerprints), shows the populations within Africa today have the highest genetic variation, ie the greatest number of alleles. That strongly indicates Africa is the centre of diversity for our species. It tells us we evolved as a species in Africa. If you like, we are indigenous to Africa.

There is more difference between Africans than there is between all other "races" (race being a meaningless term genetically). Those non-african races (ie those that left Africa millenia ago to spread throughout the world) are very similar genetically, typical of "founder" populations. This means small numbers of people (founder populations) left Africa and were the forebears of the current non-African races.

For a really interesting article about the myth of race go to the Website below in the source section. Here are some excerpts:

"What DNA Says About Human Ancestry—and Bigotry. Part 3, The Myth of Race. Village Voice. Mark Schoofs. Race and genetics form their own double helix, twisting together through history. ... tells a different tale: about 85 per cent of them carry mitochondrial DNA of Native American origin ..."

"Mitochondrial DNA indicates that all living humans descend from one maternal source—christened Mitochondrial Eve—who lived in Africa between 100,000 and 200,000 years ago. Similarly, the Y chromosome shows that all men have a common ancestor, Y-chromosome Adam, who lived at the same time. "

I watched a documentary about this on PBS, and I was totally glued to the screen. It said that 99% of our DNA is the same. Only one percent makes us different. Race is an illusion. Although I'm black, I could have more genetically in common with some blonde lady in Switzerland than my own sister.

It just proved that we really are brothers and sisters, no matter who we are or where we come from (it also strengthened my belief in a Creator).

The inter-individual genomes are more different than the average variation between races.

humans are 99+% the same in their genome regardless of race.

It says conclusively that every person on Earth is related to every other person on Earth. As disturbing as that may be to some it is a fact.

We are all descendants of Adam and we are all descendants of Noah.

Just about any allele found in anybody in the world can also be found in Africa.
