No team has yet played on their home field in the Super Bowl........but I think the Rams in 1980 played in the Rose Bowl, which was in the same area.

No, no team has played on their home field. The closest were the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl XIV (Pasadena) and the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XIX (Palo Alto).

Not yet although one might get to eventually. Personally I think they should let the team with the best record, either of the two or in the league depending on how they choose, should host the game. After all they get nothing for their effort in that sense. At least the NHL gives the President's trophy to the team with the best record.
