it depends how old you are basically let's say you're 12-13 yrs mayb 40 klg's which is 20% below average weight or if you 14-16 yrs probably 45-50 klg's and because you obviously want to be a "pro" which you probably will be at the age of let's say 19 they would probably want you to be around 56klg's which i think is rediculous cause' i also do Ballet and think that it's ridiculous that "we" should be that thin.......

There is no exact weight, you should be 10 pounds lighter than the normal weight of the same age group. Your not expected to do heavy diet just the right and ideal diet, because you do a lot of warm ups (your activity load is more and different from the other ordinary person not in ballet) you are supposed to eat the same meals but a lot healthier (no additional fats). Your teacher will not watch you eat but only reminds. If you really want to be a ballerina, it's not about food you should be worried about it should be your movements, focus, style, muscle strenght and flexibility. You'll be burning all what you eat, so be focused on the movements specially the routines, you should memorized it by heart and let it flow. When your teacher is teaching, be attentive and watch her every step from head to toe. Finally, it does not stop at the dance studio, will must do your own warm up at home and try to do some of the steps, most of all create your own (play and explore yourself). If a role is to be auditioned spend more time to practice alone, so that when the big day comes, you will be more confident and it will just flow from your heart and you will be more graceful. Don't you like that. If you have more questions, e-mail me at kalvarez12@yahoo.com Hope I helped you, from your older sister ballerina

It's more about body build than about weight. Obviously, a ballerina doesn't carry excess weight, but most of that comes from the workouts you will do -- lean and mean is the operative phrase. If you are overweight or gaining weight, your teacher may ask you to limit your diet, but living on a half cup of yoghurt a day? Nope! If you really want to get the straight goods, visit a professional dance company and talk with the dancers/instructors and get the straight goods from the people who know.
I used to be a ballerina, but stopped when I got too old (not too fat!) and began doing choreography, which I have enjoyed for many years.
Good luck!

If you are a professional ballerina you are working out constantly for like 8 hours a day or more. Because it is your job. Therefore you can eat as much as a normal person yet you burn the calories off since you exercise so much. Ballerinas are small they weigh in the low 100 lbs. You want to be thin but not too thin. You need muscles to jump and twirl and if you dont eat enough balanced food groups then you wont have the muscles you need. so stay fit and eat healthy.

A friend who was a ballerina said that in her experience dancers were no more than 110lbs regardless of their height because otherwise the male dancers couldn't pick them up.

IDK. One of my friends whose a ballerina is itty bitty, she just hit like 90 pounds, but her ballet teacher was being really hard on her and telling her to lose weight. So I guess alot are really strict.
