I'm from CA but am looking to buy some property out there in Texas. I know some locals that already have. Is it a good time to buy? Is that area susceptible to hurricanes? Any info would be appreciated.

San Antonio is a great place to live! ive lived here my whole life. no, we are not susceptible to hurricanes, or tornadoes, or earthquakes, or volcanoes...the worst damage ever here is from flooding, but if you live in a good area you dont have to worry about it. they are expanding san antonio a lot right now so there is tons of real estate available, and it really is at reasonable prices. i would look either on the north east or north side of the city though because its somewhat nicer there. i live on the northeast side of town near the forum shopping center and i love it. there are great schools, SO much to do in the city. we are a 30 minute drive from canyon lake (which is beautiful) and the comal river which is a lot of fun to float during the summer. san marcos, tx (40 minute drive) and austin, tx (one hour drive) are close by too so you can visit whenever you want. there are so many great things about living in san antonio, i would recommend it to anyone! feel free to email me if you have any questions, ill be more than happy to help!

We bought property in San Antonio last year after vacationing there a couple of times. The median sales price in San Antonio is $100,000 lower than comparable cities in the north. SA is growing. They are expanding the famous Riverwalk by 2 miles. A new Toyota plant is under construction on the South end which should help values on that side. Interestingly, San Antonio was settled by German immigrants and there is almost as many interesting German places of interest as Mexican/Texan places. Two years ago you could have bought a home in the King Williams district for renovation cheap. Now most of those homes have been snapped up and values have increased dramatically. We were fortunate to find a property with 2 houses on one lot. Eventually we will use one for a winter home and rent out the other. Now we are renting the two and have been very satisfied with the arrangement.

I moved to the Rio Grande Valley (South Texas) from Northern West Virginia one year ago and bought a home for 1/2 the cost of homes up there. San Antonio is 3 1/2 hours North. This area has minor hurricane threat, but is far enough inland to only suffer flooding, if anything at all. They have not experienced anything devastating here in 25 years (knock on wood).

San Antonio is a wonderful place to purchase Real Estate! Home prices are very low and the city is growing tremendously. Before you know it, real estate prices are going to match what you're accustomed to up north! Here's a great website to do a MLS Search in San Antonio:

I study each and every of the others and Houston is the position to be. Houston is common, yet unknown. i became born and raised in Houston. Houston is simplistic. each and every of the freeways meet downtown and there are 2 loops that cirvle houston 610 and the Beltway. Houston isn't as commercial as Dallas. we are more suitable huge buisness than something. both area of city is variety of a a variety of of city. no longer one area is like yet another area. via our new Baseball, Basketball, and football stadiums, Houston has made fairly some improvements. yet i imagine we are the tremendous brother to all the different cities. San Antonio has an fairly good hispanic community. i love San Antonio Austin is dazzling even with the undeniable fact that it caters to quite college childrens and the capital at the same time as in consultation. Austin is tremendous in case you want to get mutually each and every of the time. they have fairly dazzling authentic sources via hills. El Paso to me is Mexico yet in this area of the border. I went to Juarez some circumstances and got here back and did not comprehend i became back interior the states because they offer the impact of being alike. they have fortress Hood and Utep. so that they are fairly no longer doing something huge as in monetary equipment. I quite were to Dallas many circumstances and that i not in any respect fairly felt like i became in Texas. Dallas is too commercial with the Cowboys, the instruct, assasination and being Texas vogue capital. those are the in straightforward words issues goin on there.
