If you want to have sperm *and* semen, then, no, you shouldn't ejaculate before you plan to have sex! A man who is normally fertile will have enough sperm after 24 hours with no ejaculation, but it can take up to 48 hours for some men.
Ejaculation lowers your sperm count *temporarily*, not permanently. Having sex or masterbating more often than above can reduce the sperm count to where you are less fertile (and possible not fertile enough to impregnate your wife).
Heat is the enemy of sperm. Your testicles are outside your body to keep sperm in a temperature-controlled environment. In cold weather, they'll move closer to your body to keep things warm enough; when it's hot, they'll move farther away to cool down a bit. Tight-fitting underwear or pants, use of a hot tub, or anything else that heats things up could decrease sperm count.

Actually its best to abstain for a few days before trying to conceive so that he is at a higher sperm count. The more ejaculation the lower the sperm count because it takes a little while for the body to produce more. There really are no old sperm in a man because those are excreted on a daily basis (not just in ejaculation). For a max sperm count there are some things he could try such as wearing boxers which allow the testicles to remain cooler (sperm need to be in a cooler environment than the rest of the body), take showers or cool baths because soaking in hot baths raises the temperature of the testicles and that kills sperm, avoid alcohol and rec drugs.

The best time period when sperm is last ejaculated to be it's most fertile is 48 hours. We are trying to get pregnant also & my gyno said to have intercourse every other day(48 hrs) from day 12 after my period for that whole week while I watch my cervical fluid.
If he masterbates before sex, he's just cleaned out his tubes so there won't be any. Sperm have a life span of 48hrs, but can stay alive up to five days when inside the vagina due to the environment. If he goes longer than 48 hrs, the sperm will slowly start to die off.
Tips for healthy sperm: Boxers not briefs, cold pack of peas before & everynight of your ovulation,no alcohol, & no hot tubs.

1. No, sperm can live for a couple of days and they will be healthy. It takes time for the sperm to rebuild up.
2. Try to have sex once a day or every other day if you want to become pregnant. To much will lower the sperm count.
3. boxers, keep them cool, vitamins help too

I've worked in a Sperm Bank. Maximum numbers of sperm occur 2-3 days after the last ejaculation.
Alcohol, drugs and tobacco reduce the numbers and health of any man's sperm.
Exercise amd a healthy high vegie and protein diet increase your health and the health of your sperm.
Avoiding jockey shorts and hot tubs (and baths) keep the temp of the scrotum in normal ranges for healthy sperm production.

as for keeping them healthy as dumb as this may sound Dr will say try an ice pack before sex as well as loss underwear
(only because heat kills sperm so the losser the undies and the cooler the area the higher the count)

1. No. Sperm needs time to replenish itself. It is best to have sex once a day to provide the best chance of trying to conceive. If a man masturbate before sex, his semen may still be plentiful, but it won't be carrying as much sperm.
2.Yes, it does harm your sperm count as explained above
3. Drink less, and smoke less.

1. No that's ridiculous.
2. Yes, do not masturbate for at least three days before you have sex with the intention of procreation.
3. Wear boxer underwear if you don't already. Briefs do not allow the scrotum to do its job of keeping the testes at just the right temperature.

your testies seem to make a healthy sperm when it is about 2 to 3 degrees colder than your normal body temp.
