Have always wanted to work in a retail store, so put in application last night at a Wal Mart. (am a retired teacher, but miss working) Thought working at Wal Mart might prove adventuresome. Or does anyone have other suggestions? thanks

DO NOT WORK FOR WAL-MART. I've been with them for over 5 years and I'm looking at getting out of that F**King place.

The store manager is an a**. The manager over me (somewhat) is a C**K sucker.

Wal-Mart only cares about one thing. MONEY. I've known people be told that they couldn't have a day off cause of this or that and they said fine. F U I quit. It was for a lagit reason that they needed it off, but they didn't care. But the managers can just up and leave when ever they want to.

You pay a arm and a leg for jack sh*t benifts. DO NOT BELIVE WHAT WAL-MART SAYS IN THE MEDIA. IT IS A BIG FAT LIE.

If you want retail I would go to Target. When I worked there almost 10 years ago they were great to work for. The benifts here are alot better. But I don't know about know because it has been so long. Things might have changed.

I don't even shop there unless I absolutly have to. I go to Target where I get better quality stuff and better customer service.

To sum it all up, if Wal-Mart calls with a job offer tell them

TO SHOVE IT UP THERE A**.

then go and apply at the local Target.

I have worked for wal-mart 5 1/2 years and i love it. I am currently an assistant manager at just 26 years old. The people are great and we have great associates. I think it is very fun to work there. Wal _ Mart is my second family. We also do a lot for the community and associates in need. A lot of people think wal-mart is this money hungry company, but it is not true u should go to the home office it is nothing like u picture it. Not at all glamorous, just ordinary people who care a lot about there associates!!!

Yes. I did for the holiday season. My hours were always late morning until late night. I was pregnant so I was alway in pain. I stood on my feet all day. Sometimes I didn't get a break because the Customer Service Managers (CSM) were always very busy. The store was always very busy. People spoke to me as if I were stupid even though I am a college graduate. I got paid like $7/per hour. It takes a lot of work, and dedication to move up. But if worse came to worse I would go back to Wal-Mart. This is what it is like working in retail. You have to present yourself as competent or you will be treated as if you weren't. You have to be a very patient person and learn fast.

yes, and I wouldn't suggest it if you're past high school. I worked for them 6 years ago. They claimed full time was 28 - 32 hours a week, and it took half my paycheck to pay for my terrible, low-end healthcare. And they were very intrusive in my private life. Sometimes they would ask questions that they had no business asking - like where I was, and what I did when I was off. Not in casual conversation, but to make sure I was being a good girl (and no, I wasn't a wild child, and had never put off that image. I was young, but I was far from a partier. I always have been.). I hated working there, because I felt like I had no privacy, or life seperate from Wal-mart.

Yup worked at a store for 9 months and at a distribution center 4 years . The work schedules where horrible , pay was low , and the benefits the worst I ever had . If you want a job in retail, I suggest you look for a company that is no so money hungry they refuse to allow any one to receive over time .

Yep. Senior year of high school and a few summers during college. Loved the 10% discount when doing my back to campus shopping. That was the only good thing about the job. Well, besides the paycheck.

My ex-girlfriend did, and it was awful for her. I guess it all depends on the person.
