which input device automatically reads rowsof type without the need keystroking...its for my lil cousins high school class thats called"school to work"...any help would be kewl..thanks

You're looking for Optical Character Recognition, which are types of software programs that actually translate the image that has been scanned into ASCII text ( non-formatted text that your computer can read)

Also, you can look at MICR readers, which read the one line on a check.
These programs ( referred to as capture utilities- because its "capturing" the print from the image) are often a separate component from the scanner because it might need to feed into other software programs. ( For instance, if you had a invoice with a lot of line item detail on it, and you needed to get that data into your accounting system.)

its a scanner which has "text-recognition software"

scanners scan anything as pictures ... but if you have the right software, it will go in to the "picture" and look for common shapes of alphabets and then put it all together and without doing anywork, you have inputted a bunch of text into your computer without hitting any keystrokes
