Like, tell me how old the adult span is (30ish) (40ish) ect. and then tell me how long the average (age here) year old can hold their breath. This is for a science project and I would like more than one age. THIS IS IMPORTANT my project is due soon!

The first person who tells me 'i dunno' in answer to my question for two easy points will be reported. I have tolerated those people enough.

At 26 my personal best was just over 4 min. I was free diving 5 or 6 days a week and that is not an average time. While I was practicing with other people who were new to it I would say the average 25 y/o would start looking uncomfortable at 45 sec. to 1 min. but could hold on till about 1:15 to 1:45. Over 2 min is good, over 2:30 is very good and over 3 min is awesome.

Haha, some crazy answers here. The average person will only hold their breath underwater for 30 seconds to (possibly) 60 seconds. With training/practice that can be easily increased to 1.5 minutes but further than that requires more effort. When younger I once did 4 minutes though it almost killed me but 3 minutes was easy for me. As a 62 year old I'm doing something like 1.5 minutes fairly easy.

About a minute & a half. When I was in band, we had to do breathing techniques so we could gain better lung expansion. Breathe in for 4 beats, breathe out for 4 beats. Breathe in for 8 beats, breathe out for 8 beats. Breathe in for 12 beats, breathe out for 12 beats.. & just keep going.. You get the point.

I am 70 and can manage a minute easily, two minutes can be achieved if I get engrossed with something (Fish behaviour) that take my mind off holding my breath.
