I wish we could. Only the people who own private property along the border may put up a fence. Government property only has posts and barbed chicken wire at best. At worst, there is NOTHING to show the border but a dirt road.
Our brilliant governor Perry recently suggested a "virtual" fence for the border. People could watch at various webcams for illegals! I do not recall the total budget it required. All I could envision was how a $2.98 can of black spray paint (bought from the local dollar store), could destroy the virtual fence.
Right now, the guardsmen cannot detain or deter any illegals, merely make a note of their crossing. My guess is they are doing an illgeal alien census.

Again with the spelling. Seriously, there is button for spell checking, it's even labeled "Check Spelling".
Boarder = border
responcible = responsible
thier = their
cost's = costs
And the hurricane in New Orleans actually ended up being a Category 3 by the time it hit land, not a class 5.
No, Texas should not be responsible for it's own border patrol since it's a Federal Governmental issue and exactly who in America should we be paying back for "allowing the illegals into the country"? The majority of illegals reside in the States of their original entry. How many illegals do you think live in states north of Oklahoma? If you need help finding that state on the map, let me know. I'll be happy to send you a link.

The federal govt has VERY few responsibilities. Rebuilding after natural disasters is not one of them, defending an international border is.
IF states were in charge of the border, New Mexico can't afford or doesn't want to do as good a job as Tx. They walk across there & just cross between states a little higher up. So does Tx then need to guard it's borders with other states? Texas troops & New Mexico troops facing off? Sounds real smart. Plus the secondary reason this belongs to the feds is they collect customs taxes on imports, which means they have to funnel traffic thru checkpoints. There's all sorts of other problems too. What about illegals with infectious diseases (tuberculosis is a big prob in schools because of it), infected meats/fruits/veg, pirated & unsafe goods... all that besides the obvious drugs, weapons, slave labor, & terrorism. There is no option but for the feds to do what the const says or they don't deserve to have us for a state!
Feds aren't supposed to do anything more than the very minimal things spelled out in the constitution. The Christian thing is the Lord helps those that help themselves, and a little charity from your neighbor. Quit relying on the govt to hold your hand & pick your own self up. The federal govt doesn't step save you if your house burns down in Ohio. The average person who has gotten fed assistance in New Orleans has received more then twice as much as folks have ever gotten in Florida, and what about the folks in Miss that took a head on blow. New Orleans took a sideswipe from a Hurricane that was downgraded to Cat3 by the time it hit the city. I've been thru a bunch of hurricanes/trop storms here & we train in advance, we prepare, we have insurance or we get a cheaper house so we can afford insurance... The thing they need over there is grit & determination, a little of the old fashion American spirit & drive to succeed despite any adversity. The Christian thing is to take that head on instead of complaining, and the Christian thing for the rest of us is to try to help them help themselves.

Do you know how many illegal aliens come over the Texas border each day? These illegals go to other states, not just Texas. Should Florida, New York, California, or any other state that is on the coast pay for citizens coming in to the U.S. illegally? They are coming by the boatload from Cuba to Florida. If the entire US does not stop any illegal from coming in, we will have another 9/11.

Fence in Texas!! what about Canada the largest Muslim population and now some of them can be into terror these days. Just stone the employers hiring them and give illegals a reason not to come here and illegals will instead rise up against the Mex. Gov for better standard of living

Texas is not the state with illegal loving liberals, it's California. Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico are the states that are fed up with illegals. So if a state is going to pay for the fence it should be California.

The real issue with New Orleans is we should not rebuild a coastal city below Sea Level. There was nothing natural about that disaster, it was human engineered. The Federal government should not rebuild a city that will just flood again.

It's a federal issue. That is why the sherrif of new mexico is having trouble charging the illegals, like he wants to.
Keep asking those liberal questions, and we'll keep answering them.

I think its a great idea to let Texas take care of its border. But if it does the US Government needs to sit back and let them do it like they want too....betcha they won't do that.
