No, screening won't detect that. The characteristics for autism don't usually present themselves until the child is at least 18 months, sometimes a little sooner if it's severe enough. That's because the signs to look for are things that newborns can't do, like lack of speech, no eye contact, not responding to name, and repetitive behaviors and tantrums.

It's never too early to know, my son is six years old and was diagnosed three and a half years ago better to know now so you can assist the child as best as possible. It's difficult believe me but one of the most rewarding treasures in life is our children!
