I need to know how to check if my hard drive is full or how full it is. How do I free up space so it's not so full? If I delete stuff does it empty or is the deleted stuff just sent somewhere else but it's still in the computer??

open "my computer" and right clink on the C drive, thats how u see if it's full or not. in that window there is also a "free space" button, it erases files u dont need that ur computer generates by it self. if u delete a file its sent to the trash can, if u delete the files from the trash can u cant get them back and they dont affect ur space. if u have a lot of music and u use itunes, u might wanna check if itunes "copied" the songs to the itunes folder, that way u have each song twice and it takes more space. hope i helped

On a Macintosh, open up a new window [CMD N]. The text at the bottom of the window will say [# items, #.## GB available]. The "GB available" indicates how much free space is left on your hard drive. As for deleted material, if you securely empty the trash [Finder --> Secure Empty Trash], the data on your hard drive is about 99.9% irrevoverable. Unless you're dealing with the CIA trying to convict you for computer crimes, you won't have to worry about it.

you can go to My Computer and then click on your C drice ONLY ONCE, to your left there should appear either a pie chart with the memory used and free (if windows 98) or there should be a details box there to the left of your screen (if windows xp). the info should be in GB and it will tell you how much memory you used and how much memory is still free. your computer probably has a lot of junk memory in your hard drive. the files i usually get rid off to get more memory is temporary internet files and cookies. to do that you go to My Computer, Local Disk (C:), Windows, Temp, Temporary Internet Files, select them all and just delete them. I only recomend you do that if you have Windows 98. If you have XP then you could occasionaly delete cookies, history, and other cumulative files.

double click my computer then on c drive right click then properties. delete programs or files that you don't use to free up some space. and when you delete a file, it still stays in your computer, only the pointer gets deleted.

Double click My Computer, right click the C drive and chose properties. Use Disk Cleanup.

If you delete it allocates the space to be overwritten.

Open "My Computer". Right click on your harddisk and view properties. You can see how much free space you have.

When you delete a file, it goes to Recycle bin. To freeup the space, you need to empty the Recycle bin.
