Well, they really loved each other, but then she thought that he was dead, forcing her to move on. So then she met John Rolfe, and since John Smith wasn't there for her to love, she fell in love with John Rolfe. And I guess she realized that she belonged with John Rolfe, that John Smith's unpredictable lifestyle was not for her, and that they would just be good friends. Wow, so much deep stuff from a Disney movie! Haha. But I still like John Smith better!

I thought in the first movie she stayed and then in the second some guy came and took her back and then they like eachother??i bad for smith.

i think because once she saw him, she realized she was happy in her life with her husband, and what she had with John she did not want to ruin that and she was willing to let him go and let him explore like he loved to do. i think in the end she realized that her husband was who she needed to be with, for her son and all.. it was sad but he should have never left her.
