I was planning on just putting them in the back seat of my car and making sure they were well fed the day before (it'll take about 22 hours). I've got a 20 gallon tank with three geckos.. will they be okay?

First put them individually in a little plastic deli cup (or maragarine container). Put holes in the top with a soldering iron or nail. Secure the lids on and put the plastic containers in a cardboard box.

Always transport them seperately and I say small container b/c you don't want them to jostled around. The cardboard box will keep it dark which will keep stress to a minimum.

The important thing is the temps... don't make it too hot nor too cold. A good way to judge it if you were wearing short sleeves, would you be to hot or too cold? Make sure they are not sitting in the sun in the back seat.

I have transported reptiles across oceans and continents. Keeping an acceptable temp. is key.

You should be OK, however there are a few things to remember.

First, if you stop to eat, don't forget cars get HOT. Either use drive thru, or park in the shade with all windows cracked.

Take a light sheet with you, to block direct sun from baking them. Some time during the drive you will most likely have direct sun in the back seat.

Take several jugs of local water with you. Any animal (including humans) can have a bit of a problem with changes of water. Once you get to your new location, mix the new water with the old 75% older, then go to 50-50, next 75% newer, by know they will be adjusted to the new.
