children are innocent creatures who don't know the meaning of respect..they only imitate adults ,so,it's the responsibility of the parents...if they respect each other..the children will automatically will.

Yeah! But they learn from home their values and today most parents do not have the proper time to teach their children respect and values and children will mimic what they see their adult role models doing and we can tell them to be respectful but if they dont see us being respectful on a daily basis then it is pointless. There are too many cases of kids hitting there parents and talking back etc. In my day that was unheard of. If I dared to open my mouth just open it not even say anything back to my parents I would get the color knocked off of me.

a majority of children have no respect for their parents these days. i don't have children but am entirely disgraced with the way these children are behaving. laws now give more rights for the children and less for the parents. i grew up with the occasional smack on the backside but i look back now and think yeah i did deserve that. i have turned out to be ur average citizen. but sometimes u got to look at the way the parents speak to their children... monkey see monkey do.

You wrote, should children respect their parents more than nowadays? I have seen kids thru the years and I cannot believe my eyes or ears, when I hear kids as young as four or older, saying bad words to the teachers and their parents. First of all the parents are the first teachers of this kids, second,if I was a teacher and I heard one of the students cussing somebody out, I would take him/her to the principal and asked for the parents to be present to respond for their kid. Children learn what they live, Do you blame the kids for their upbringing, And I'll bet it would get worse thru the years,if parents do not start treating them with care and love.

Yes. DEFINITELY!!! Kids these days are out of control and they need to be taught the old school way how to act. When I was a child, I got punished for everything that i did wrong and I never thought about doing it again. Parents these days act as if they are afraid of their children and it shouldn't be that way

Yes!!! I grew up respecting my mother simply because she is my mother and doing her best for me. Parents should not have to earn respect unless they continually abuse the responsibility. Society puts too many airy fairy ideals in todays children and too much guilt on parents who cannot provide the latest fashions etc. Yes children deserve respect too but firstly they must learn it.

let s get one thing straight children only respect those whom s respect they have gained in other words a child grows to love a parent regardless of respect but as the child matures and needs correction and guidance then the child starts to gain respect and as the child goes on through his or her childhood he either gains more respect for the parent or looses it ,it is solely dependent on the interaction of the child and the parent but today parents thats moms and dads alike are afraid to correct or lead there child they would rather be there best friend as a great football coach whom i don't much care for but in this interview in tampa fl he was asked if the kids today that come to him ar e different and need more help he said no it isnt the kids that need the help its the parent s because they don't communicate with the kids so when he gets them he and his staff have to be father mom leader advisor and the correction officer to them he said its time the parents step up to the pump and become parents it is my opinion solely that each family should every week have 2 nights that they eat at home at the same table and speak to each other the parents should as k the kids how there week is going whats going on in there life and if they have any problems to resolve that they can help with and mom should ask also but dont let the kids in on your problems you work them out they have to grow and they will through each parents growing thats how i taught my 3 and they have become great parents and adults and they still ask me at times for help with certain problems they incure because they know that when they were growing up we had alot of challenges to overcome as we almost lost all three of them , one has a pace maker by the time he was 21 and the other oldest daughter was in a car wreck and is a quadriplegic and we survived all this and they have grown throught all this with us so you see i have made this a book i do apologize but this is a very core issue today and needs to be addressed on a national level so we need a good generation of adults working throught there hardships and still caring enough for there kids to raise them in a home of caring and love and most of a ll communication
