is she on here period? she cant have a miscarriage (be pregnant) if shes on here period. some girls can have "very" heavy flows. but if you are really scared and if she is too then go to the hospital, better safe than sorry. But if it not her regular menstruation cycle she could be having a miscarriage and that's what causing the sever cramping and bleeding.
But go to the hospital, it's the best thing.

Symptoms of a miscarriage include:
Vaginal bleeding that may be light or heavy, constant or irregular. Although bleeding is often the first sign of a miscarriage, first-trimester bleeding may also occur with a normal pregnancy. Bleeding with pain, however, is a sign that miscarriage is more likely.3
Pain. You may have pelvic cramps, abdominal pain, or a persistent, dull ache in your lower back. Pain may start a few hours to several days after bleeding has begun.
Blood clots or grayish (fetal) tissue passing from the vagina.
It is not always easy to tell whether a miscarriage is taking place. A miscarriage often does not occur as a single event but as a chain of events over several days. One woman's physical experience of a miscarriage can be very different from another woman's experience.

You're right; your friend has to go to hospital soon. If she has missed her last menstruation(s) followed by cramping and heavy bleeding she might have a miscarriage. The bleeding will hardly stop unless curretage done to remove the pregnancy remnants. The bleeding will loose her blood that might be so significant to make her pale and weak.
Other causes of severe bleeding are possible, but they are usually not accompanied with heavy cramping.

Well, I did the math, and that is one tampon every 3 and a half hours, which I would call normal. You are supposed to charge them after 4-6 hours. She is reasonably close to that, especially if it her first day of bleeding and she is using regular or lite tampons (not super-absorbancy). I wouldn't worry unless it continued for two or more days. I am perfectly healthy, in fact I was at the gyn. today, and I go through that many once in a while.

If she is pregnant, she should go to the hospital. If not, there are lots of women for whom this is natural. If she is concerned, a trip to the doctor may be your best bet. If the bleeding gets sever, then go to the hospital immediately. If she is not concerned, maybe you need to just stop and take a deep breath. I have used at least 10 per day, every month, for most of my adult life...

i would say definitely get to a doctor appointment tomorrow. going to the emergency room may be pointless and expensive. unless, of course, its obviously life threatening. like, she is passing out from blood loss. or she has a high fever.
are her periods always this heavy? she may have ueterine fibroids. i had them and they made my periods extremely heavy--sorry for the gory details, but i would go through at least 10 super duper tampax in one day.
if its not her normal cycle, and it gets even worse, or she starts feeling really horrible (she will know) then i would say go to the hospital because she may be having a miscarriage and they will need to do a d&c to stop the bleeding.
otherwise, i'd watch and wait and get to a doctor tomorrow.

If she was having a miscarriage she would be pregnant, which means, she wouldn't be having her period. But 7 tampons a day is way too many - unless she's just a clean freak and is wasting tampons

If she's bleeding that much (7 tampons in one day is a little too much), take her to the hospital. They can check her out to see why she is bleeding heavily and give her treatment to help her feel better.

I think she should go to the hospital. If she is having heavy cramping and bleeding that much, there could be something seriously wrong.

tell your friend that she better get medical attention quick, they have to stop that bleeding, before she start to feel real sick and weak that happend to me one time and i did the same thing and you know how i end up? with a needle in my neck because they could not find a good vein in me i was so weak i had no blood,of course i was miscarring but is the same thing, bleeding is bleeding and is very dangerous she could have a stroke or go in to a coma and never wake up......tell her you will go with her or trick her, tell her we are going for a ride and then go straight to the emergency room and once you are in there tell her to please do it to ease your mind.and most likely she will go and get it over with it. do the best that you can to get her in that emergency room.good luck.
