I think that sometimes people think that marriage will "change" what they have together. Like a piece of paper will do that to your relationship. Sometimes they just get cozy and really don't feel the need to get married. In most states, you are legally married by common law if you have lived together for years. Things like this should be discussed and concerns should be addressed about the reasons for wanting the marriage. I believe that once you live together and have children, it is best to just have the ceremony. You want to teach your kids that people get together, get married and have families...not all backwards...that just sets them up to repeat history....just a thought.

They ushally don't care anymore or mabey they can't really aford it by that time. There are so many diffrent excuses out there.

He probably always thought he would marry someone different than you. He might not see you as the marrying type. He might have a girl on the side. He might have gotten off easy all these years so why should he have to change it all now? There are all kinds of reasons. Unfortunately, they all mean he doesn't love you as much as you would like.

You may not like my answer but i have to be honest here. You have made it to easy for him! You have lived with him for years and had kids with him and he has not had to commit to anything before so why should he have to now? This is why i do not believe in living together before marriage. If you had not lived with him then he more then likely would be ready and asking for marriage. Try moving out for at least 6 months and dont live with him or even sleep with him and see if this changes things any!

If she gives him all the benefits without the bindings, why would he bother? It is really irresponsible and unfair to burden the children with the stigma of being born out-of-wedlock and remaining so - especially when the blokes are still together.
If someone pays you a monthly salary for years without your having to work, why would you (you lazy bum) suddenly want to wake up and do some work?

Some people don't feel the need to get married. Maybe the guy doesn't think that marriage will help the relationship at all because its already great.

Fear most likely. He probably doesn't want to ruin a good thing. If he has everything he wants then why should he get married? Marriage often changes things (even if it is just a piece of paper) and perhaps he fears this.

He's getting everything for free so why should he make it legal? It is a sign of selfishness as he cares more about his freedom than his children being legitimate

men need to read the Bible to see what marriage even is. Most dont know anymore. their manhood is spelled out for them in there. Honouring/protecting/providing for a woman and his children. they wont have the blessings they could have unless they are maried.
