I manage 6 stores and I can tell you that honesty is always a good thing. It shows that you are human and can take accountability and responsibility for your actions/tasks. It also shows that you will need supervision until you have grasped time management. When I conduct an interview I always ask what their strengths are and what their weaknesses are. Based on the responses I will ask how this job could help them build strength in that weak area of themselves. 9 times out of 10 most applicants can be overwhelmed and answer that they would like to better their weakness by having extensive training in time management as well as task management. I have hired 2 that have had that weakness and they now know how to manage certain tasks within the deadline limit.

Your response was fine. Many interview questions have no right or wrong answer. They are simply a way for an employer to see if there is a good fit with an employee.

For example, consider the question, "Do you like large or small groups when socializing?" If someone is going to be an accountant, they might fit in with smaller groups. If the person is interviewing for a job as a football coach, getting on in larger groups might be a better fit.

As far as your interview reply, it was pretty standard. You didn't lie and say, "Oh, I never get overwhelmed." Good. You mentioned that there was a time constraint that might have been unreasonable, and you mentioned why you got overwhelmed."

Anyway, good luck with the job.

A question like that is designed to find out if you can multi-task. The answer was ok, but better, would have been to focus on how you solve that problem, so you avoid the frustration. Like: "when I get frustrated, I get a piece of paper and make a list of what I need to do and assign a priority to each, then tackle the tasks by priority. If I don't get to the last one, that is better than missing the most important."

I recommend a book, called Knock 'Em Dead, by Martin Yate to help with interview questions.
