When you use oxy clean, like say on chocolate frosting on white carpet, where does the chocolate go? Where, I say? I need closure.

Oxyclean is not enzymes. It is a reactive chemical with what is known as an "epoxide". That is a reactive oxygen atom. Oxyclean changes the molecules structure so that it no longer absorbs and reflects different wavelengths of light. The stain is often there still but is "invisible" it no longer absorbs wavelengths of light and reflects others. It reacts like water to light.

I have forgotten my original source as to where I read this information, but I am pretty confident it is reliable.
The "Active Ingredient" in Oxi Clean is Sodium Cabonate Peroxyhydrate,
Na2CO3 * 2H2O2

In other words, it has Hydrogen Peroxide bound within the Sodium Carbonate structure. Hydrogen Peroxide is a strong oxidizing substance will will "bleach" the stains away. The stains are generally chemical compounds which in their present form, absorb a given wavelength of light to make it a certain color. When these substances are oxidized, the color is bleach out of them.

I could be wrong...but the enzymes in the oxy clean "feed" off of the organic material in the chocolate...
